Oiling
The practice of applying oil to scalp and hair, traditionally weekly.
Soumm · Practice
Definition
A long-standing practice across South Asia and elsewhere, in which oil is worked into the scalp and hair and later washed out.
Regional traditions differ in oil, frequency and method; there is no single correct protocol.
In practice
Once weekly suits most people. Over-oiling leads to more frequent washing, which offsets the benefit.
